Dr Simona Chereji
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Counselling Psychologist who has clinically worked for the last 11 years in academic, forensic, NHS and private settings, both in the UK and overseas. The clients I have worked with were adults ranging from younger adults to older adults, in individual or group format. I have experience in assessing and treating disorders on a wide spectrum of complexity, including difficulties related to anxiety disorders (phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, social phobia, panic disorder), depression, anger problems, adjustment disorders, body image difficulties, eating disorder, loss and bereavement, personality disorder.
I have a special interest in working with people with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social phobia and anger problems, both in individual and group format. In addition to my clinical experience, I also have experience in supervising, teaching and training qualified and trainee therapists from NHS, and other healthcare professions. I have run therapy groups for OCD and anger. I developed and implemented protocols for anger management with the purpose of both treatment and research.
The core value of my work is the use of evidence based therapeutic approaches tailored, to meet my clients needs. The main therapeutical model I base my work on is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with influences from therapeutic approaches such as Rational-Emotive and Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Solution-focused Brief Therapy. I have extensive training and experience in cognitive behaviour therapies, as they has been the main therapeutical approaches I have been interested in so far. I am interested in being up to date with the latest outcomes in clinical research relating psychological disorders and intervention models, therefore I regularly review scientific articles and attend relevant workshops, courses, training lead by experts in the field.
